Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) Program

This course will train participants in the inner workings of fiber optics, fusion splicer and other tool basics, and the various methods of splicing, terminating and testing fiber optic cable.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

The inner workings of fiber optic and how to efficiently deliver it to the end user
How to test equipment, distinguish cables, and clean fiber optic ports
Fusion splicer basics, cleaving tool use and safety as well as proper disposal of shards
Optical Loss Test Set (OLTS) training on both SM and MM fiber cable structures
Training and use of the fiber scope including safety and proper handling
Optimal Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) training and use and more!

At the end of the course, students will take the FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician certification exam.

Training begins August 27th! Class will meet in-person once a week for 5 weeks from 5pm-9pm for hands-on labs, as well as include online learning assignments in between sessions.

Funding to cover registration fees available through QUEST and WIOAA for individuals - please contact your local Job Center to determine if you are eligible.

POLICIES & DISCLOSURES

Cancellations:
Cancellations received 14 business days prior to class start date will not incur any charges. Registrants cancelling less than 14 business days prior to the class start date or failing to show for a class will be responsible for 100% of the class fee. All cancellations must be sent via email to [email protected] or 937.252.9787.
Substitutions: If a company has an employee registered for a class and that person cannot attend, the company may substitute another employee at any time prior to the class start date. Please contact [email protected] or 937.252.9787 with notification of student change as soon as possible.

Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollments, which vary by class, are not met for each session. If your class is cancelled, we will do our best to provide you with adequate advance notice and you will receive a full refund.

Inclement Weather:
In case of inclement weather, Sinclair Workforce Development will follow Sinclair Community College instructions regarding a delay or closing for Open Enrollment sessions. Please check www.sinclair.edu or your news channel for closure and delays. This will be the most up to date information. If a delay is announced, please reference your class start time to determine if it is affected.

For example:
A 2-hour delay has been announced in the morning:
Example 1: If the class you are registered for is scheduled for 8am-5pm, then the class will be rescheduled for another day
Example 2: If the class you are registered for is scheduled for 1pm-5pm, it will still run that day at the scheduled time.

In the event of a class cancellation, we will do our best to reschedule the class as soon as possible and notify you accordingly. Should the rescheduled date and time not work for you we will process a full refund.
